About this objectA black felt army dress cap. The top edge of the cap has maroon piping, and the cap band is also maroon with a silver badge at the front. The badge, which was originally the 6th Light Horse Regiment hat badge, shows crossed rifles, with a lion's head at the cross. The letters 'M' and 'R' are on either side of the lion and a crown is above. The words "TOURJOURS PRET' (Always Ready) are draped at the bottom in front of foliage.
The cap has a visor made of plastic-type material, and edged with leather. Around the front is a narrow leather band with a small silver button on both ends, with 'AUSTRALIAN MILITARY FORCES', a map of Australia and a crown above. The leather band has two metal strap adjustments, on on either side of the badge.
