Helmet colloquially called the 'Shrapnel Helmet'; 'Tommy Helmet'; 'Panic Hat'; 'Dishpan'; 'Tin Pan Hat'; 'Washbasin'; 'Battle Bowler' and 'Kelly Helmet.
In Britain it was known as the 'Brodie Helmet'. In 1939 it was fitted with an improved liner and sprung webbing chin strap. The final variant of this helmet was in service until the late 1940s.
