About this objectPick this pan out of any town tip and it tells its own story. Its story carries with it history that most other pieces within the tip would tell. This pan was bought from a shop in Blayney, then taken to Port Kembla for many years. The owner, late Mr. Frank Jarrett with his pan moved to Hazelgrove, near Oberon. He lived the Depression out there and became a successful Farmer. In 1970 he gave me the pan and asked me to look after it. Frank had used the pan for over fifty years. Frank was born in Barry, Where his Father was the local Smithy. He would be pleased to know that the old pan was back in Blayney, the district he always liked to visit. Frank died in 1970 at Oberon. Frank employed several Barry men during the Great Depression. The name Jarrett is a respected one around Oberon. Living on "the Smell of an Oily Rag" when he first went to Port Kembla, he drove a Mercedes at Oberon during his later days.
