About this objectUsed by Fettlers to bore holes in railway sleepers when laying railway lines. The "boring bit" was of special steel, because of the tough thick timber mostly used in this work. The shape and size of the brace created extreme power of leverage, was usable in very difficult areas and where wooden bridges were being built to hold the line securely. Given to me by Mr. Jim Moore of Orange.
From the original Viv Kable catalogue exhibit register.
