About this objectColour photographic print of the naval ship HMAS Macquarie on Sydney Harbour. The ship was ordered as part of Australia's shipbuilding program during the Second World War. It was commissioned at Sydney on 7 December 1945 under the command of LCDR Leslie Hinchiffe DSC RAN.
She served in New Guinea waters as well as Indonesian waters and was based out of Darwin for many years. She sold to be broken up as scrap 5 July 1962.
