About this objectThis machine demonstrates the progress being made toward automation. The reaper dropped a pile of the crop at intervals to be picked up and bound by hand. This machine fed the crop into a binder. The binder wound twine around a cock and then stacked them on the rack. They did not require handling until it was full.
Original condition but the oscillating bats have been painted red.
Seat for the operator.
Three wheels on one side. Some wheels removable depending on whether the plant is being transported or in use.
Canvas collection table and roll table to feed cut crop up to binder.
PTO connection for tractor (this model can be drawn by draught animal or machine). The PTO was only available on later models and only in the 6ft or 8ft sizes.
