About this objectA wooden mallet (maul) with a large sign on side:
'Wooden Mallet used in harness making'.
Made of hardwood main section. The two ends are covered with multiple layers of cloth over which is an outer cover of leather.
The cloth and leather ends are held in place by metal ring. Some blue tacks have been used to hold the cloth in place.
The handle is bamboo. The top edge has been split and inserted into a round hole in the main part of the maul. After insertion a thin hardwood wedge has hammered into the wedge to make a tight fitting handle.
