Subject and Association DescriptionNorman Langdon, originally in the 54th Battalion for several months, served in the Citizen’s Military Forces from 22 December, 1941, until 22 August 1942 and in 2/3 Infantry Battalion in Australia and later in New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. While in New Guinea, in an encounter with the Japanese, “Norm was wounded in the knee and was rescued and carried to safety by some of the renowned Fuzzy Wuzzies-of whom Norm spoke very highly.” He returned to Sydney in the hospital ship, Wanganella.
Before the war, Norman and his sister had formed Langdon’s Dance Band, including his brother, Len. Norman continued playing in bands after his demobilization in March, 1946.
