About this objectIn 1946, Mr WR Glasson put up a proposal that a memorial be erected to Paterson in the vicinity of his birthplace. A disused gate post from the Dalton's mansion, Duntryleague was used as the monument or obelisk. The base is made from sandstone lintels an sills from the Narrambla Steam Flour mill.
After the death of Banjo Paterson, his widow Alice unveiled a monument to Banjo Paterson on 20 December 1947.
The Orange and District Historical Society was formed in 1949 and the State Government accepted a proposal that a Paterson Memorial Park be created.
