About this objectBlack and white photograph of Australian Imperial Expeditionary Force, 5th reinforcements of the 4th Battalion. In the photograph are seven rows of soldiers, sitting in front and standing at the back on side of a grassy hill. The photograph is mounted on brown cardboard with the names of soldiers in gold print around the edges. The bottom section of the cardboard mounting is missing and only the names of the back three rows are recorded.
The name of the photographer is stamped in gold in one corner viz: "Nada Studios, 606 George St, Sydney". Stamped on back is "J.C. Bootle, 1917". Handwritten on the back in pencil is : "I think he is 2nd front row 5th from Rt (Lisle Bootle/John Carlisle) was the son of FJE Bootle, Surveyor of Woodward St, Orange. J.M. Chambers (niece)."
