About this objectImperial German linen flag from WWI, framed in a gold coloured wooden frame with cream mounting, and with glass covering.
The flag is black, white and red horizontal stripes. In the centre is the German eagle symbol with a crown. There is hem on the left hand side.
There is a small plaque below the flag on the cream mounting, with text printed on it, "Flag of Imperial Germany. Captured in German New Guinea, Sept, 1914, by Lieutenant Colonel Neville Howse VC. Presented to City of Orange 24 July 2000, by his son, John Howse, VRD Member for Calare, 1946-1960".
