About this objectWooden gold and brown stained frame with black felt mounting, framing an "URGENT TELEGRAM" from the "Commonwealth of Australia / Postmaster-Generals' Department, New South Wales". There is a circular stamp "ORANGE / 30 AP 18 / NSW" in the top right corner of the telegram.
A metal medallion on a chain is displayed to the right of the telegram, and beneath the medallion is a rectangular metal label with the following printed on it, "INSCRIPTION ON BACK of MEDALLION / Presented to sister of Pte J. Paton by Residents of Forest Reefs, 25.02.20".
A white card with the following typed information accompanies the framed telegram and medallion. "TELEGRAM DATED 30th APRIL 1918 FROM COLONEL SANFORD TO THE REV. B BROSMAN ASKING HIM TO INFORM MISS L PATON OF LUCKNOW OF THE DEATH, KILLED IN ACTION, OF HER BROTHER, Pte J. PATON / The Medallion was presented to Miss Paton by the residents of Forest Reefs on the 25th February 1920.
