About this objectWhite wooden framed piece of embroidery with glass covering.
The embroidery has embroidered at the top, "15.2.42 POW 15.8.45", and a coat of arms below with an anchor in the centre of a wreath and a crown above, with two flags on either side - a union jack and white ensign.
On the reverse of the frame is written in black ink, "FROM MRS D KERWICK / 9 Harts Lane, Orange / Picture done by POW in Changi camp / on dirty piece of rage with needle / & thread picked from thin clothing / It was raffled in the camp & won by / Mrs Kerwick's brother Samuel William Hawtin.". A few spelling corrections have been made on the description.
There is also a cream cardboard typed sign, "NEEDLE CRAFT. PICTURE DONE BY / POW IN 'CHANGI'".
